The zombie apocalypse is on its way to Rochester, but don't worry. Emergency responders are well prepared for the influx of the living dead. On Saturday, the Mayo Clinic along with other community groups, is sponsoring an emergency response training exercise featuring a zombie apocalypse-type scenario developed by the Centers for Disease Control at the Gamehaven Scout Reservation in Rochester. More than 200 people are expected to participate in the event as responders, actors, faculty or observers.
Mayo is teaming up with the Army, Olmsted County Public Health, the University of Minnesota Rochester and the the Boy Scouts. The event will feature a Mayo One helicopter landing, patient response and triage. So why a zombie apocalypse? The Centers for Disease Control says on its website that "what first began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to engage new audiences with preparedness messages has proven to be a very effective platform. We continue to reach and engage a wide variety of audiences on all hazards preparedness via Zombie Preparedness." http://www.postbulletin.com/news/local/zombie-apocalypse-training-drill-on-saturday/article_5db9ba02-c9b3-57f7-b525-2968b1ce58ed.html Comments are closed.
