The Viral Tape Naming (Notre Dame’s Prince of Darkness) As The Alleged Perp!… What Happened Is At Issue, Character Is At Issue!… Personal & Family Threats Forced Removal of The Tape!
I wish that I had magic in my fingers to do the things that some of you say. I have provided a link to the video on You Tube that begs the question about Lizzy Being Raped. I have no knowledge who made the tape. It is not the tape that I would have made. The number of viewers as of 10:55 CST on Sunday, November 19, 2010 is 1,455. That well exceeds the number of visitors to my blog during the same period of time. (XXXXX) was outed because of his alleged actions and the actions of the University of Notre Dame. I promised myself that I would not be the primary source of outing the alleged perp and I was true to form.
Contrary to the belief of some zealots, I have not ever directly accused (XXXXX). I have always referred to him as the alleged perp (perpetrator). I am not moved by some of your impassioned pleas as many of the commenters have been rude, inexplicably outrageous with their one word comments that I have chosen not to publish. In the end, the supporters of my blogs outnumber the detractors somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 to 1; counting those I chose not to publish. I have published a number of blogs to bring out different points of view on my take. This blog is not an all things Notre Dame blog. You have enough of those out there but it seems that some of you tend to focus intently on my writing. I appreciate that.
Why attempting to bring me to your point of view is so important does not surprise me but it disappoints me. Dialogue is progress for the intellectually gifted. If you desire to be strapped into the mediocrity of thoughtlessness then be my guest. I am opting out of that ride. (XXXXX) put himself into the situation he now finds himself in. I am not sure exactly what influenced so profoundly his lack of judgment but permissive on the part of perhaps parents, coaches and others throughout his life, denied him the right to learn valuable lessons concerning matters of conscience. He has been portrayed as a bully since his middle school days and perhaps beyond.
Football didn’t seem to build the character of this guy but rather to reveal his cocky and unpredictable side. Those of you without any reasonable basis for argument continue to ramble on about Lizzy and clinical issues that you most know nothing about. The use of some of the terms being shot out of cannons are so vague and include no professional definition. There are varying degrees of panic attacks and other more troublesome psychologically based issues. To use a blanket mentality to cover such issues is just plain wrong. The real text book case in this example might be the alleged perp; (XXXXX).
He is walking a path similar to that of Jerramy Stevens, UW football player, washed out of the NFL at age 30. I have blogged about this player as well. Some of us learned lessons early in life and continue to incorporate our Catholic values into our everyday lives. Some of you appear to, in a very cavalier manner, accept mixed grill from the supposed student-athletes representing your university. I choose to hold those supposed leaders to a significantly higher standard. I have had no trouble finding incidents across the country and in every case, with the exception of Notre Dame, the coaches determined to act swiftly and in the interest of their program.
Again, my blogs are to get you thinking, if you have that capability, not to set you off on a rant. This case is not about opinion but rather about gathering some interesting facts, thinking about what lies on the table before you and coming to a thoughtful conclusion that will definitely ruffle feathers of some. This case is not so much about the football player in question, he made his own bed. This case is about the moral fiber of the University of Notre Dame and the commitment to their moral vision. Lawyering up is not what I would consider to be part of the moral imperative of a supposedly truly great Catholic institution.
